Weekend Wrap Up: Degeneres Purchases Pitt Property in Malibu

It's official.

Late last week the peeps at People revealed property mad chat show hostess Ellen Degeneres and her wife Portia di Rossi paid a hefty $12,000,000 and signed all the necessary deeds and documents to acquire a glassy, bluff-top Malibu (CA) residence owned by a-list actors and global do-gooders Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

Told you so. And told you so again.

Mister Pitt picked up the property for $8,410,000 in March 2005 and, after quietly shopping the 1.26 acre ocean front estate off-market for around $18,000,000, officially listed the C-shaped contemporary in mid-August 2011 with a much lower asking price of $13,750,000.

Mister Pitt (and Miz Jolie) own a number of homes around the world including in Los Angeles' Los Feliz area, an ocean front compound near Santa Barbara, a mansion in New Orleans and a 1,000-ish acre spread in the south of France.

The Missus Degeneres and di Rossi own a horse ranch in upscale Hidden Valley area near Thousand Oaks (on the market earlier in the year for $16,500,000) and a colossal compound in the hills above Beverly Hills currently on the open market with a $49,000,000 price tag.

I cant see them living here full time without expanding. Not that they have to think about it right away..their Bev Hills House will only sell if they seriously whack the price or split up the properties, in my opinion.

Mamma the farm was "taken off the open market" and so was this before the sale was finalized. Any chance they sold the farm? A trade perhaps? Just thinking...

What 11:17 said. Ellen was on real estate a roll for awhile, but when it came to the Bev Hills pad, she miscalculated - never should have bought up the street if she wasn't planning on keeping it permanently.

Wait, so they actually own a Hidden Valley Ranch? That's sort of amusing.

I think Jen has better taste in decorating.

She is so going to be the next Nicolas Cage.

Ellen is a real estate agents dream client. Constantly buying and selling.

Pitt already had a second story addition to the house designed--- bet Ellen builds it.

I had read that Ellen wanted a beach house and is looking to combine her "in town" house with her horse property. She should try the Sullivan Canyon area of Brentwood. Bea Arthur's 3 acre spread on Old Ranch Rd was available... and there are stables practically across the street.
