Rumor Has It...

...New York-based financier Sandy Weill has already "reached an agreement with an unnamed buyer" to purchase his posh and exceedingly pricey penthouse at 15 Central Park West in New York City.

The children will recall that Mister and Missus Weill heaved and hoed their Robert A.M. Stern-designed and Mica Ertegun-decorated 6,744 square foot penthouse with its 2,000 square foot-plus wrap around terrace on to the market a few weeks ago with a ball-busting $88,000,000 asking price. Although an agreement has (allegedly) been reached, the as yet unidentified buyer has yet to sign the proper purchase contracts, according to the New York Post, and "appears to be foreign."

Well, holy god damn.

Mister Weill, the former CEO and chairman of Citigroup, has pledged to donate the proceeds of the sale to as yet unidentified charitable organizations.

Somehow this doesnt shock me. Despite what some children feel about the decor, the property is the ultimate trophy and I feel irreplacable.

People decorate how they want. I doubt very seriously many, who post here often, can afford or have stepped foot into any homes of this value.

Oh, we'll have someone come on and lie that they have, but on the internet everyone has a ton of money, went to the best schools in the country, and if it's a man has a large penis. Just par for the course!

The super rich selling to other super rich. Lovely. Their the only ones who can afford it.

Those are the only people paying these retarded overinflated prices, foreigners.

And 9:08 why do you believe that the people that come here have no money, there are millionaires and billionaires all over this country in every state and every town. Go on Realtor.com and pick a town anywhere and put $1,000,000 as your minimum price parameter and see how many homes pop up. There are no shortage of mansions and rich people to go with them worldwide period. Get in your car and drive around your town, there is no shortage of mansions anywhere.

And with regard to your comment that only the super rich have stepped foot in these homes, well that is also ignorant, the people that built them have been in them, the decorators, the people that clean it, repair them, deliver to them, go there to do business with the owners, the security, drivers, cooks, nannies etc etc, so plenty of people that are not rich have stepped foot in them all the time.

You can go back now to deluding yourself into thinking that you are superior and special now. I hope it helps you get through your day.

Bravo for you midTN!

I'd like to see convincing evidence that the proceeds go to charity before I believe it. Of course this would give him a big tax deduction and perhaps other benefits too. So don't be too overwhelmed by his "generosity."

I would love to see him donate that money to Occupy Wall Street.

Can you give money to "Occupy Wall Street"? Oh, right, we already do - it's called Pella Grants, brought to you by your controlling friends at the Federal Government!

No, those would be Pella windows, you misguided angry conservative....students get Pell grants, hardly enough to cover tuition and books - ergo, ballooning student loan accruals. Look closely at your next news cast...many of the OWS participants are not college students. There are even some Republicans joining!
